Over the past few years, we have tried to send the VSFA membership renewal notices via email to the fire departments emails.
Some have worked and others not so well, they end up in junk mail and never looked at so, we are sending this notice via the social media via vtfirefighters.org and Facebook.
Please reach out to your chiefs, presidents, treasurers or whomever is in charge to sign up.
The 2026 VSFA membership packet or email will be going out by end of october 2025, it will contain VSFA 2026 president’s letter, the VSFA 2026 membership form, this attention letter, scholarship awards, and nominations award paperwork. The membership applications run from January 1st to December 31st, 2026.
These awards are handed out at the annual meeting that VSFA holds each year and are a great honor for the recipient.
The scholarship award is for the applicant to possess a high school or g.e.d. diploma hold active membership in the VSFA for a year and plan to enter or continue a career related to the fire protection, suppression or other related emergency service.
The various nomination awards are for any intended applicant that has demonstrated, supported or made major contribution to his/her department.
All of these awards have a deadline that needs to be followed in order to be received and reviewed, so do not hesitate to send in early.

The National Firefighter Registry (NFR) for Cancer is the largest effort ever undertaken to understand and reduce risk of cancer among U.S. firefighters.
NIOSH is recruiting firefighters to join the NFR so that we can better understand the link between firefighting and cancer.
Firefighters are exposed to chemicals on the fireground that could increase their risk of developing cancer. There are many unanswered questions about how cancer risk may vary across our nation's diverse fire service.
